My Passion
I often get a tear of joy in my eye when a client truly feels free from their porn or sex addiction for the first time, or when a couple understands each other in a new, deep, and vulnerable way. It’s an honor to be a part of those moments.
I have been passionate about working with couples since I started my career in 2005. My own personal experiences during my 15 year marriage, the counseling we did, and our subsequent divorce have all deepened my compassion for couples in every part of their relationship journey.
My Approach
I take a strengths-based, solutions-focused approach that’s in line with my training as a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist. We’ll focus on developing practical skills that set you on the path of long-term recovery.
Many addictions have some sort of trauma at their core. That’s why I rely heavily on Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), including with my sex addiction clients. Trauma can feel like a raw, open wound. But EMDR heals traumatic memories so that they become more like a scar that is no longer sensitive to touch.
For couples, I draw on Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), which builds security and lasting connection between partners, even where there’s a history of sex addiction or other betrayal.
